Folkspeak | Heritage. Preservation. Understanding.

Folkspeak is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation that supports the creation of multidisciplinary and transmedia works, where oral histories, lores, musics, objects and/or other forms of cultural life take centre stage.

Folkspeak engages with film and audio industry professionals to preserve our cultural heritage, while working with artists across genres in collaboration with the communities we serve.

O douce Providence, our flagship production, is a collaboration between Folkspeak's founder and executive director, contemporary composer Alyssa Ryvers, and the Duplessis Orphans.

Folkspeak welcomes collaborative projects with individuals and organizations that share our commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, with a special focus on marginalized groups like the Duplessis Orphans.
